Ice skating – Nathan Phillips Square is one of the more popular (artificial) outdoor skating rinks in the city, probably because it’s in the centre of downtown Toronto, in front of the Toronto sign!
It’s scheduled to open from November 26, 2022 onward (9:00 am – 10:00 pm) – weather permitting
With it being artificial, it stays open during warmer spells. This has its downfalls, and that is… puddles, but it doesn’t appear to hinder those who just want to get out and skate.
If you don’t live downtown, a good time to go is during Christmas/Holiday season because of the lights and the Holiday Fair.
Closing times vary during the week, but it doesn’t ‘really’ close. The lights go out [10:00 pm] and the zamboni is put away for the night! With that said, you can still skate – in the dark, but you won’t be the only one doing it!
Facilities
- Change rooms with lockers (take change with you)
- Washrooms
- It’s FREE to use if you have your own skates. Rentals are available
- Snack bar
- Tim Horton’s across the street (Queen St/Bay St)!
During the season, if temps do change dramatically, you can always check their WEBSITE for up-to-date info before heading down.
