Apple picking – Ontario: Ready to start making those apple pies and crumbles?? Apple picking is a great family outing. Just pick one of the many Orchard Farms that grow your favourite apples, hop in the car and spend the day outside.
It’s a great way to get exercise without knowing it but make sure you don’t eat too many of the apples when you’re up the tree!!
And if you don’t want to bake right away, some orchards even have fresh baked pies for sale – the aroma may overpower you, so don’t be surprised if you leave with one!!
With Halloween a few weeks away, you may be able to pick up a pumpkin too. Hayrides are popular too (depending on the orchard).
The Orange Pippin website is a great resource for this time of the year. It provides all the information on the orchards in Ontario as well as what activities they offer, and what apples are ready for picking.
CHUDLEIGH’S are open this year but access to their orchards are on a timed-ticket basis – so try and pick those up the earlier, the better!!
REMEMBER – Always contact the orchard before setting off on your drive.
